Pharmacy
The UCSF School of Pharmacy (SOP) is committed to supporting learners with disabilities reach their full potential and succeed in our educational environment. Once you meet with Student Disability Services (SDS) and receive your accommodations, SDS will email your accommodation letter to you and the SOP Accommodations Liaison (AL) in the Office of Student Affairs (OSA).
P1s and P2s will then receive an email from the AL with next steps (as outlined below). P3s can find more information on the APPE accommodation process below.

Summative Assessments
· Your exam will take place on the same day as scheduled for non-accommodated students.
· Exam times will vary based on the scheduled start time of the exam.
· Detailed information will be emailed to you, and you will receive a calendar invite from the SDS Exam Team ([email protected]) one week before the exam.
Summative Reassessments
· Reassessments will also be held on the same day as scheduled for non-accommodated students.
· If you are reassessing, specific details will be emailed to you by the SDS Exam Team one week before the reassessment.
Extenuating Circumstances
If you have an extenuating circumstance that requires a change to your exam time:
· Approval must be obtained from the Director of Student Affairs, ICT, and SDS.
· The general expectation is that requests be submitted at least two weeks before the exam date or as soon as you become aware of a needed change.

For any questions or additional concerns, please contact the SDS Exam Team at [email protected]
Accommodation Type: OSCE Accommodation(s)
If you have accommodations for OSCEs, such as extended time, you do not need to contact anyone directly. ICT and other relevant personnel will be informed of your accommodations. You will be contacted by ICT or SDS if any iterations are necessary.
Accommodation Type: Core or Skills Lectures/Small Groups Accommodation(s)
· If you have any accommodations required during core or skills classes, such as: using Otter for note-taking, using text-to-speech software, needing release time during class time, or needing assistance in the classroom, please make sure to email your core course director(s) and skills course director(s) within the first two weeks of EACH theme block.
· If you are unsure if your accommodation(s) require emailing your course director, please contact the AL.
· Otter accommodations: Please note that you may NOT use Otter for virtual OSCE assessments, online reflection sessions, or any sessions that contain PHI.
· If you miss class for an accommodation-related absence, the expectation, unless otherwise unable due to a disability-related issue is to: 1) submit an ARF (before class begins) and 2) email your course director regarding the absence (you do not need to explain specific details as to why you are missing, but that it relates to your accommodation) and request any makeup work.
Accommodation Type: IPPE Accommodation(s)
· If you have any accommodations required during your IPPE, such as extended time or release time for medical appointments, please email Dr. Judie Tran, Assistant Director of Experiential Education, IPPE Program, with your letter.
· If you are unsure if your accommodation(s) require emailing Dr. Tran, please contact the AL.
· If you miss IPPE for an accommodation-related absence, the expectation, unless otherwise unable due to a disability-related issue is to: 1) submit an ARF (before IPPE begins) and 2) email or call your preceptor and email Dr. Tran regarding the absence as soon as possible (you do not need to explain specific details as to why you are missing but that it relates to your accommodation). You are responsible for working with your preceptor to make up the time.
P3 Accommodation(s)
· If you are a P2 student with didactic or IPPE accommodations and will need accommodations during your APPEs, you will be contacted in October to set up a meeting with SDS before your first APPE rotation begins in May.
· You will need to have a meeting with SDS to establish your APPE accommodations by November of your P2 year.
· Once you receive your P3 accommodation letter, both the AL as well as your APPE regional program director will also be provided with a copy.
· You will also be asked to meet with your APPE regional program director before mid-December of your P2 year to work together on a process for sharing information with preceptors and discuss what the accommodations may look like based on each rotation. Your accommodations may look different based on the rotation. You will never be asked to explain or share the reason why you need the accommodation.
· You will need to check with your program director at least a week before the start of each rotation to discuss your accommodation and any site issues you may need help navigating.
· If you need any changes to your accommodations or find they are not working during APPEs, please reach out to SDS to discuss updating your accommodation letter.
· If you have never received accommodations before but need them for your APPE rotations, please reach out SDS for an appointment to discuss accommodations.
