Services We Offer
Academic accommodations and support services are designed to provide equal access to all students. They include but are not limited to the list on the left.
To be eligible for services, students must provide appropriate documentation. Each service must be approved by the SDS Director and is generally tailored to the individual need of each student. It is the responsibility of SDS to review a student's documentation and determine the specific reasonable accommodations a student requires to minimize the impact of the disability on academic performance. Guidance about documentation is available in the following Practices:
- Practices for the Documentation and Accommodation of Students with Learning Disabilities
- Practices for the Documentation and Accommodation of Students with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
- Practices for the Documentation and Accommodation of Students with Psychological Disorders
Students are encouraged to provide whatever documentation they have for evaluation. Guidance will be provided if additional documentation is needed.
Accommodation Procedures
Procedures for the implementation of accommodations vary among schools and programs:
Referral for Assessments
Students who are concerned that they may have as yet undetected disabilities like attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder or a learning disability can go through a screening with the Director of Student Disability Services to determine if a referral to an off-campus professional for evaluation is appropriate.
